7 Major Reasons Why Marvel Is Crushing DC On The Big Screen

The fan-fights among Marvel and DC cheerleaders is as vitriolic and passionate as between liberals and conservatives or Democrats and Republicans. There is always a debate among comic-book enthusiasts as to which camp is doing better – Marvel or DC.

If we analyze the performance of both studios regarding TRP’s on TV, clearly DC shows like Arrow, Flash, etc. has a substantial lead over Marvel (Daredevil, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D). But on the big screen, DC is not even in the 10-mile radius of Marvel Studios regarding global box-office collections from its film projects.

Following are the reasons why Marvels is crushing DC on the big screen:

1. Marvel has more Superhero teams

Marvel Studios have a lot of interesting material to work with; there are Avengers, The Inhumans, Secret Warriors, The Defenders, etc. while DC’S Teen Titans and Justice League are hardly a match.

2. Well-researched scripts

The creative team of Marvels is one of the most prolific and top-notch in the whole entertainment industry. The scripts are balanced in the way that it appeals to the comic-book junkies and the first time audience at the same time.

3. Marvel Events are Bigger and more Frequent

Marvel Studios have been cranking out big universe-altering, world-changing events on a regular basis like Loki’s Invasion, HYDRA infiltration of S.H.I.E.L.D, Civil War, Infinity Wars, etc. while DC offers significant events occasionally like Flashpoint.

4. Flawless Execution

The Marvel’s choice of talent to direct its projects include the best names in Hollywood – James Gunn, Joss Whedon, Jon Favreau, etc. who makes it their personal mission to bring their vision to the big screen while DC sticks with Zack Snyder to build its universe.

5. Meticulous future planning

Marvel Studios is ready with Thor Ragnarok in 2017, and already have nine to ten projects lined up for the next five years. DC Studios is struggling to build its universe and is trying to introduce too many characters in a single movie.

6. Kevin Feige is a top-class guy at the helm

He is a fanboy who has been in the entertainment industry for several decades. He brings his technical expertise and prowess to the table and has produced worldwide box office revenues of over $8.3 billion from a slate of superhero movies. Maybe Ben Affleck is the guy for DC Studios who will turn around its fortunes.

7. Viral Marketing

Marvel Studios has mastered the subtle art of marketing and connect with the massive fan base of Marvel comics. From product positioning to digital advertising campaigns, everything has been thought through well in advance. On the other hand, DC Studios has failed to generate considerable buzz around Batman v Superman. Instead, they gave away the entire plot in the trailer itself.
