Did ‘Dragon Ball Super’ Introduce Freeza’s Twin?

Did ‘Dragon Ball Super’ Introduce Freeza’s Twin?

Warning! Spoilers for Dragon Ball Super’s 32nd episode lie below!

If you’ve caught up with Dragon Ball Super’s English dub, then you know the anime just introduced one interesting character. The series is toeing into the ‘Universal Survival’ arc now, leading Goku to meet the mirror of his greatest enemy.

That’s right! There’s two Freezas now. The multiverse is in some serious trouble now.

Toonami aired Dragon Ball Super’s latest episode over the weekend, and Goku was stunned to see a man who looked just like Freeza. The Saiyan encountered the villain’s counterpart after Beerus brought the hero and his team to meet with a team of fighters from Universe 6. The group included several fighters such as a Saiyan boy named Cabba. And, thanks to Piccolo, Goku was quick to spot Freeza’s look-alike.

Of course, the fighter shown isn’t Freeza despite their similar looks. The two are simply universe mirrors of one another since Universes 6 & 7 are considered twins. Goku and Piccolo did not seem comforted to see someone of Freeza’s race on their opposing team, and Vegeta had to keep his cool around the man.

After all, according to Cabba, their version of Freeza never did destroy the Saiyan race.

However, readers of the Dragon Ball Super manga will know the real secret behind Freeza’s mirror. The fighter, who goes by Frost, is not the stand-up person his team first thinks. The character is known as the emperor of Universe 6, and he leads a peace-keeping force that helps stop conflicts. However, fans eventually learn Frost is the man who initiates the conflicts. Frost’s end-game was to win his Universe’s ‘Peace Prize’ and gain control of the planets ravaged by the wars he stopped (but also started).

Frost may have similar aspirations to Freeza, but the former had to go about universal takeover in a very roundabout way. The Saiyan race’s overwhelming presence made it hard for Frost to conquer them, forcing him to trick the the warriors rather than bully them. As mirrors, fans can see how Frost and Freeza use whatever tools they have to their ultimate gain, and Frost will prove to be no different as Dragon Ball Super moves forward.
