James Gunn Reveals Fantatic New Information About Groot From Guardians Of The Galaxy

We saw five post-credit scenes of Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 and a few of them were hilarious extensions whereas some of them will serve as the base for future MCU films.

One of those five scenes gave us a look at Teen Groot and showed the Star Lord enter the room and complain about his not having cleaned the room while the Teen Groot is immersed in playing video games. James Gunn, director of the film stated that Teen Groot will feature in Avengers: Infinity War, during an interview:

“He’s exactly the same. That’s exactly the Groot we designed for Infinity War.”

Also, there is a time lapse of four years between the scene and the film, therefore, the gap between the GOTG Vol.2 and Avengers: Infinity War film is also going to be four years. James Gunn went on to explain the differences between our lives and the life of someone like Groot. He said:

“Well, you know, it’s complicated. I think you have to stick through future movies to find out exactly what the story of Groot is. I get a lot of questions and the thing I say that bums people out more than anything else is that Baby Groot doesn’t have the memories of Adult Groot. But it’s complicated! His life is not like our lives… It’s his aging, and Groots, where they come from and how they do their thing. It’s pretty much worked out in my head, but we’ve only let out pieces of that.”

However, Gunn did a major turn around and recently shared something absolutely crazy on social media which made the Marvel fans go berserk with disbelief. He revealed that the tall Groot never survived to live on and the Baby Groot is a brand new character. He said:

“I also mentioned to folks who kept throwing the Groot revival in my face, that that example doesn’t really work because Groot is dead. Although I don’t necessarily think it’s obvious in ‘Vol. 1,’ it’s important to say that if you exploded and a little glob of you started growing into a baby, I would not assume that baby was you. I do think it’s more obvious in ‘Vol. 2,’ as Baby Groot has a different personality than Groot, none of his memories, and is much, much dumber.”

We saw how Groot gave up his life to save his team members from certain death in the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1. That was a fantastic and heroic scene of extreme selflessness. While fans were saddened at losing Groot, he, later re-appeared as a Baby Groot and that made the fans happy again.

You saw him dancing behind Drax’s back and then he was once again seen in GOTG Vol. 2 uttering the popular phrase, “I am Groot”, the voice-over being given by the star Vin Diesel. That was truly superb of Marvel as they not only introduced these fringe characters superbly, but, also made them far more lovable than anticipated.

Till 2014, only those who were die hard fans of Marvel comics had a good idea of Star Lord (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista), Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper), Groot (Vin Diesel), Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace and others.

The Vol.2 of GOTG started exactly from the point where the Vol. 1 had ended and thus, it had all of the lead characters of the first vol. alongside others such as Nebula (Karen Gillan), Mantis (PomKlementieff) and Yondu (Michael Rooker).

Chris Pratt did a fantastic job as Star Lord/Peter Quill displaying his signature style and perfect comic timing. The biggest secret of the Guardians series has been about Peter Quill’s father’s identity. In the comics, he is the son of Jason Quill (J’son of Spartax, Emperor of Spartoi empire, second son of galactic Emperor), however, the movies had it different. Kurt Russell joined the cast and played the role of Peter’s father i.e. Ego the Living Planet.

Baby Groot also managed to adorn the Empire magazine’s cover with a scrapped heap of a cassette tape titled Awesome Mix Vol. 2, which was the gift given to Star Lord by his dying mother. Just like the first Vol, this Awesome Mix Vol. 2 will have a great significance in the GOTG Vol. 2 soundtrack. Diesel had said in an interview with ScreenRant:

I’m excited about Baby Groot; he’s just too fun. And in Infinity War, I have to talk to the Russo brothers and find out how this is all gonna go down. I know somewhere in the Marvel universe there is a moment when you will see Groot and Hulk have a few words. I think there’s gonna be a moment that we’re all waiting for, and whether you know it or not, you are waiting to see Groot and the Hulk get down”.

We are going to wait and see if this meeting will happen or not in the Avengers: Infinity War. Enjoy!
