Things You Need To Know About Lord Of The Rings Spin-Off

3. Sauron Is The Only Returning Character

The main character to show up in both Lord of the Rings and Beren and Lúthien is Sauron, because he’s immortal. Despite the fact that he appears like a definitive danger in LOTR, Sauron is basically a level -two miscreant to Beren and Lúthien. As it is, he’s no match for Lúthien and her enchanted houndHuan. It does somewhat undermine the character’s lord-of-evil vibe from LotR once you know that he had to flee from a dog.
The genuine danger in the story is Morgoth, who is Sauron’s boss and the first dark master in Tolkien’s mythology. Morgoth is powerful to the point that an enormous army of angels had to attack Middle-earth to expel him from the scenario. Indeed, even Sauron is scared of him. As it is, Morgoth was behind the making of dragons, orcs, werewolves, and trolls. He even brags an individual bodyguard of balrogs, each as impressive as the one that slaughtered Gandalf.

4. It’s Tolkien’s Personal Story

Tolkien’s better half Edith was the inspiration behind the lovely Lúthien, whose songs charm Morgoth and even move Death to tears. The couple met when Tolkien was 16 and formed a bond amid excursions to nearby teahouses. Here, they used to lean out of windows and attempt to drop sugar cubes into the caps of ladies in the city beneath. Tolkien’s guardian disallowed him to see Edith. However, they remained profoundly enamoured and within hours of turning 21, he wrote a letter in which he proposed to Edith. She agreed immediately. The couple were in the end buried together, sharing a tombstone which read “Beren” and “Luthien.”
