There’s a lot of time until Game of Thrones Season 8 airs, and it could even be more than a year if some sources are to be believed. However, work on the last season of the show has already begun. We have characters filming, sets being rebuilt, and new characters being cast. The duration of filming for Season 8 is set to be about 8–10 months. So, Game of Thrones won’t be returning next summer for sure.
With new characters being cast, and old ones already filming, there rises a question about one of the most mysterious Game of Thrones characters probably ever. The Faceless man of Braavos, Jaqen H’ghar. Last we saw Jaqen, he was at the House of Black and White in Season 6.
He was a mentor to Arya Stark, and taught her how to be a Faceless man. The actor who plays Jaqen H’ghar, Tom Wlaschiha, recently sat down in an interview with Los Siete Reinos, and he had a couple of interesting things to say. First, he talked about his return to the show back in Season 5. Basically, he was told he had a part to play in the future. Later on, he was asked about Arya Stark, and why the Faceless Men allowed her to leave the House of Black and White.
“I’m sure the original Jaqen had a plan for Arya, andtrained her the best he could. It would not make sense to kill her because I trained her to return to Westeros.”
When asked if Arya fooled him, he basically said that he was proud of her, and that he did train her to return to Westeros after all. Interestingly enough, he was also asked about a possible return in Season 8, because Westeros is going to be up against the White Walkers in Season 8. However, we don’t know if anyone from Essos, apart from the Golden Company will be fighting or not.
LSR asked him if Braavos would fight for the living side, and here’s what he had to say:
“I do not know. From what I have seen in the last season what is left is going to focus on the great battle of Westeros. But I do not know. At the moment it does not seem that Braavos participates.”
Well, we know all about the “I won’t be back for the next season”, so whether Jaqen will return or not is still up in the air. We’ll definitely find out soon. Do you want Jaqen H’ghar to return and fight for the living in Season 8 of Game of Thrones? Let me know in the comments section below.
