Anna Diop Tom Play Starfire In New DC Live-Action Show

Fans of the young superheroes of DC got another reason to rejoice, as Anna Diop bags the role of Starfire. The long-awaited series is currently looking for actors to justify the iconic young heroes, where Diop will join young Australian diva Teagan Croft (who will be playing Raven).

In the comics, Starfire is the princess of an alien warrior species, who seeks asylum on Earth. Here, she meets the Titans, who all have their unique aspiration from life.  Her abilities include firing energy blasts from her body. Starfire is known for her ruthless attitude and seductive looks. She has a close bonding with Raven, the daughter of Trigon and a powerful sorceress with serious emotional issues.

The upcoming series, Titans, follows the adventures of a group of new-age heroes collected from different parts of DC universe. The central protagonist of the show would be dick Grayson a.k.a. Nightwing, the former protégé of Batman and the leader of the Titans. Reportedly, a host of other superheroes is yet to be added to the roster.

The plans to create a show around Teen Titans were formulated as early as 2014, under writer Goldsman. However, things never progressed, and the project fell into the hands of Greg Berlanti (the man behind CW’s DC shows). Now, Berlanti is working with Johns and Goldsman to create a fresh outlook for the young heroes. The show will launch as a part of the new DC digital Service platform, which might also include the revamped version of the animated show Young Justice (reportedly titled Young Justice: Outsiders).

Anna Diop has previously worked on numerous show, including 24: Legacy (as Nicole Carter), Greenleaf( as Isabel), Quantico (as Mia) and the Messengers (as Rose Arvale). It would be quite exciting to see her as Starfire on Titans, which is set to debut in 2018.
