7. Not Bothered by Doubters Who Don’t Think she fits the Bill
After the big news of Gadot being casted as the new Wonder Woman was broken, questions were asked. Many deemed that she did not fit the bill. Back in her native place Israel, a news station asked her some really tough questions in a no punches pulled interview. The reporter bluntly asked her –
“Wonder Woman has curves, will you be getting those…what about your breasts?”
It was a rude question. It also was a question on the mind of many fans. Historical depiction of Wonder Woman has always been that of a voluptuous woman. There is no contesting the fact that Gadot is attractive but she is no voluptuous. She doesn’t flaunt the proportions that we have come to expect from Diana Prince. Gadot took the criticism gracefully and responded in the best and most sporting way possible. She replied to the question –
“It’s the physical preparations that I’m starting now. A very serious training regimen – Kung Fu, kickboxing, swords, jujutsu, Brazilian…1,000 and 1 things…I’ll gain body mass…Wonder Woman is amazonian, and historically accurate Amazonian women actually had only one breast. So, if I’d really go ‘by the book’…it’d be problematic.”
Interesting to note that questions are raised about the body when it comes to women. I did not see anyone casting doubt about Christian Bale’s ability to bulk up when he played Batman.
8. Three Movies Deal Signed
For those unreasonable haters who still think she was a wrong choice, I’d like to say that whether you like her or not, Gadot is here to stay forat least three films. Out of the three Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice was her first, Wonder Woman will her second, and Justice League will her third. Before her casting, there were speculations about whether she will get her solo movie to kick some ass and woo her audience.
With her solo Wonder Woman movie poised to be released next year, we know that she has clearly proved her case to the powerful people at Warner Bros. Anyone who’s seen Batman V Superman will vouch that regardless of the performance of other actors and the film’s fate in general, Gal Gadot cameo appearance clearly stood out. She impressed the audience and we are eagerly anticipating her solo film which will give a much bigger focus to her.
For now, all that remain to be revealed is if the studio will extend her contract, thus, ensuring that she will appear in Justice League Part 2.
