Fantastic Four’s Return Teased In ‘Marvel Two-In-One’

Fantastic Four’s Return Teased In ‘Marvel Two-In-One’

Many fans of Marvel Comics have been wondering about the fate of the First Family after the events of Secret Wars.

The Fantastic Four have yet to appear ever since Reed Richards and Doctor Doom had their fateful confrontation in the event’s climax, though the Thing and Reed Richards made homes with the Guardians of the Galaxy and Inhumans respectively.

Now the two are reuniting to find out what happened to Reed, Sue, Valeria, and Franklin in the pages of Marvel Two-In-One by Chip Zdarsky and Jim Cheung.

Zdarsky spoke with Newsarama about the new comic, revealing that Johnny Storm and Ben Grimm reunite to solve the mystery of their missing family.

“It’s Ben and Johnny diving headfirst into the mystery of what happened to them,” Zdarsky said. “The world presumes that Reed, Sue, and the kids are dead, but Johnny especially can’t accept that fact. So we’re heading on a road trip to find out what happened.”

The writer promises Marvel Two-In-One will involve many other Fantastic Four characters, though he wouldn’t spoil anyone’s appearance save for one major villain.

“Well, unbeknownst to Ben and Johnny, Doom holds the key to finding the missing heroes,” Zdarsky said. “Writing Doom is insanely fun, and my favorite Marvel book right now is Infamous Iron Man, so it’s great to be able to play with what Brian Michael Bendis and Alex Maleev have been doing with the character.”

Though the comic isn’t a proper Fantastic Four title, it continues the theme of Marvel Legacy and Zdarsky hopes it will fill the void for fans of the characters.

“It’s Ben and Johnny doing what the Fantastic Four always did best: exploring new worlds and universes and trying not to die,” he said.

Marvel Two-In-One hits stores in December.
