It has been more than 20 years and we still aren’t over Rajkumar Santoshi’s 1994 cult classic Andaz Apna Apna starring Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Raveena Tandon and Karisma Kapoor. While many hoped for a sequel someday with the original cast reuniting, there’s finally some good news for the fans. Preeti Sinha, daughter of the film’s producer Vinay Sinha, has given the rights to Phantom Films and the remake will reportedly roll towards the year-end with a fresh cast and an in-house director. As soon as we heard this news, we immediately penned down our favourites for the new Andaz Apna Apna. Read on…
Ranveer Singh as Amar
Who else can pull off the charm and comic timing of Aamir Khan’s Amar other than Ranveer Singh? Can’t imagine anyone else but the mercurial Ranveer say, ”Main toh kehta hoon aap purush hee nahi hain… mahapurush hain mahapurush!” with his signature outburst of energy.
Varun Dhawan as Prem
The innocent daydreamer Prem who aspires to be a big actor, is a role cut out for Varun. Don’t you think?
Shraddha Kapoor as Karishma
So Karishma who pretended to be Raveena, the rich heiress, should be played by Shraddha Kapoor. Say aye if you want to watch Shraddha and Ranveer romance on ‘Elo ji sanam hum aa gaye’!
Alia Bhatt as Raveena
Alia Bhatt is cute as a button, just like Karisma Kapoor in Andaz Apna Apna. She is our choice to play Raveena, who pretended to be Karishma, the secretary.
Akshay Kumar as Crime master Gogo
We know the choice is a bit unconventional, but hear us out. Akshay Kumar can hold the attention of a crowd like no one else with his bang on comic timing and goofy actions. We think it will be interesting to watch him pull off Gogo, armed with a cape and a thin moustache.
Boman Irani as Ram and Shyam Gopal Bajaj
Boman Irani is a fabulous actor and he surely would be able to pull off the double role of Ram Gopal and Shyam Gopal Bajaj – the good and the bad twins.
Kapil Sharma as Bhalla
“Sir apne bataya nahi aaj mera birthday hain?” Kapil Sharma is our choice for the cute, silly and awesome Robert.
Sunil Grover as Robert
Sunil and Kapil have a good bond thanks to their TV show. So their camaraderie will be interesting to watch. “Happy Birthday, Robert.”
Deepika Padukone as Juhi Chawla
Just imagine the opening scene to be like this. Ranveer cycling down the road and then he sees a woman trying to fix a broken car. The woman flips her hair and turns and Ranveer exclaims “Haila, Deepika Padukone!” Genius.
Shashi Tharoor as The man in the bus
Last but not the least, here’s our sincere request to Mr. Tharoor. Will you please play this role in the remake and give us closure? We have all been seeking it since 1994. Thank you.
